چکیده

Blood pressure regulation might be disturbed during a long term exposure to noise through the raise of circulatory stress hormones: adrenaline, nor-adrenaline and cortisol (Maschke et al. 2000). Several epidemiological studies have shown that roadtraffic noise might increase the risk of arterial hypertension (RR between 1.5 and 3.0) in adults who live in areas with daytime average sound pressure levels exceeding 65 dB(A) (Babisch 2006). However, the results of the studies on noise exposure and children’s blood pressure are less consistent. This association was found to be negative and non-significant (Lercher 1992), negative and significant (van Kempen et al. 2006), positive and borderline significant (Evans et al. 2001), or positive and significant (Regecova & Kellerova 1995; Belojevic et al. 2008).

Association of Road Traffic Noise Exposure and Driving Behaviors

Background: The noise caused by traffic is an increasingly prominent feature of urban environments. However, limited studies have been focused on the assessment of exposure-response relationship between road traffic noise exposure and driving behaviors in Iran. The present study aimed to investigate the prevalence of the violations caused by road traffic noise exposure in Qazvin, Iran. Methods...

Noise exposure and children's blood pressure and heart rate: the RANCH project.

BACKGROUND Conclusions that can be drawn from earlier studies on noise and children's blood pressure are limited due to inconsistent results, methodological problems, and the focus on school noise exposure. OBJECTIVES To investigate the effects of aircraft and road traffic noise exposure on children's blood pressure and heart rate. METHODS Participants were 1283 children (age 9-11 years) at...

Spatial modelling of railway noise propagation

In recent decades, population growth and progress of technology have shaped large and compact urban settlements. Existence of huge transportation systems and developed urban infrastructures are among the most important properties of modern cities. In spite of prompt transit and facilitated daily activities, development of transportation systems causes many problems, including traffic, air and n...

Evaluation of noise pollution in Parks of Sanandaj City and zoning with Geographic Information System

It is accepted that noise pollution has a major impact on health, such as physical, physiological, psychological and performance related effects, all over the world. This study aims to evaluate noise pollution in four urban parks located in Sanandaj City, Iran and to zone it in GIS environment. Sound pressure level (SPL) and maximum sound level (Lmax) were measured at 45 points (each point was ...

Exposure-effect relationships between aircraft noise and road traffic noise exposure at school and reading comprehension: The RANCH Study

Transport noise is an increasingly prominent feature of the urban environment, making noise pollution an important environmental public health issue. This paper reports on the RANCH study, the first cross-national epidemiological study to examine exposure-effect relationships between aircraft and road traffic noise exposure and reading comprehension. 2,010, 9-10 year old children from 89 school...
